STOCK,flower of the day.

The fragrant stock, sometimes called the gillyflower (refering to a dialect from of "July Flower"), is a four-petalled beauty with an intense fragrance that is espeacially noticeable at dusk and later in the evening. its history goes back to Greek philosophers, who suggusted using stock mixed with roses to create a bouquet fit for the gods. Gardeners of the middle ages grew stock in large amounts. To send stock in a floral missal is to offer a wish for a happy life or acknowledgement of the recipients lasting beauty.
